2021 Airstream Basecamp 20
The Basecamp Travel Trailer was made for those who want to see the world. Built for adventure, it’s a small camping trailer that’s tough enough to go anywhere your wanderlust takes you, and comfortable enough to help you really enjoy the time you spend there. In the past, the Basecamp has only been available in 16′ floorplan, but for 2021 there is now a 20′ floor plan option.
Dimensions
The new Basecamp 20 is a larger version of the Basecamp 16 but still is a lightweight and maneuverable trailer that can be towed with a mid-size truck or SUV. The exterior length measures 20′ from the hitch to the rear of the trailer. The interior width and height have also been increased, with the interior height of 6 ft. 7 in. and width of 7 ft. 2.5 in. The exterior is now 9″ wider, and height has been increased by 1 ft. 7.25″ making the Basecamp 20 7 ft. 9 in. wide and 9 ft. 1.5 in. tall.
Interior
When you first step inside you’ll notice a different layout, but many of the same great features found in the 16′ model. At the front of the trailer, the galley has been moved to make room for a U-shaped dinette. The dinette area is the perfect spot for enjoying your morning coffee while enjoying the view through the panoramic windows.
The tabletop is designed to swivel completely around, allowing for quick entry in and out of the seating area from either side. The dinette also converts into a bed to provide additional sleeping accommodations, increasing the sleeping capacity to 4. A great benefit of having the front dinette is it allows you to always have the rear bed setup, while still having a dinette.
The galley has been relocated to the side of the trailer and includes the same sink and cooktop as the 16′ model but with more storage below. An updated, bigger all-electric refrigerator and optional microwave are conveniently located in between the dinette and galley with additional storage. The wet bath is also similar to the 16′ model, but now has an added exterior shower option with hot and cold water.
In the rear of the trailer, you’ll find the same rear seating/bed layout but slightly wider and longer with a length of 78″ and width of 82″‘. Just like the 16’ floor plan, the rear seating features a removable table and easily converts into a bed. A storage compartment in the floor provides a great place to store additional gear or any wet items you may have.
Basecamp X Package
Like the 16′ Basecamp, the 20′ is also available with the optional Basecamp X package. If your adventures take you even farther off the beaten path, the Basecamp X Package adds more rugged features to make you ready for just about anything you find along the way.
The Basecamp X Package includes:
