Here’s a new twist on an old classic. Lasagna in a Dutch Oven! Layers of gooey cheese and fragrant Italian sausage makes this recipe the ultimate comfort food. The best part? Like many of our other recipes, its amazingly simple! So delicious and simple in fact, you might not ever want to go back to making lasagna the traditional way again!
INGREDIENTS
- olive oil
- (1) 9 oz. package of oven readylasagna noodles*
- (1) 24 oz. jar of spaghetti sauce
- (1) bag of spinach
- (1) lb. of Italian sausage
- (2) 8 oz. bags of mozzarella cheese
- garlic powder
- * It is essential to have oven ready, or precooked lasagna noodles.
If you are using regular lasagna noodles, you need to boil them before preparing the lasagna.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Brown the Sausage
Heat and grease your Dutch Oven. Use only enough oil to coat the bottom of the oven. Add in the Italian Sausage and cook until browned. Once cooked through, transfer the meat into another bowl and drain off the excess liquid.
2. Start Layering
Begin with a layer of sauce at the bottom
If adding ground beef, cook and brown that first in your dutch oven (greased), remove and set aside. Start with a layer of sauce, layer noodles, more sauce, spinach, cheese, Italian seasoning, and repeat until out of ingredients or dutch oven is full. Cook on bed of hot coals, and use 17 coals on top of lid. Bake for 30 minutes.
3. Serve & Enjoy!
